About the Role

Altman Solon Summer Associate 

Altman Solon is a global strategy consulting group that focuses exclusively on the telecommunications, media and technology (TMT) related sectors. As the largest global TMT strategy firm, we assist clients in fast, high-impact, confident decision making. We enable clients to seize new opportunities, improve performance, and increase shareholder value within complex and converging industries. 

As a Summer Associate at Altman Solon, you will be exposed to the full breadth of Senior Consultant responsibilities. Over the course of the program, you will receive both formal and on-the-job training, be staffed on internal and client projects, and gain a robust understanding of the Altman Solon experience and the Senior Consultant role. Responsibilities include: 

  • Guiding day-to-day activities of one or more project workstreams and typically owning a workstream including: 
  • Market sizing, business model development, and other quantitative analyses
  • Primary and secondary research, including survey design and analysis and interviews with subject matter experts
  • Development of original frameworks and strategies including customer segmentation, go-to-market strategies, churn reduction initiatives, etc.
  • Assuming a key role with clients, ensuring we are providing innovative and actionable solutions to their most critical problems
  • Leading deck development and presentation of key findings and recommendations to our clients
  • Developing content-specific knowledge while supporting business development efforts and building client relationships 

The Summer Associate role is open to current first-year MBA students who are on track to graduate in winter 2027 or spring 2028. The summer program will run from June 7th to August 13th in the Boston, MA; New York, NY; Los Angeles, CA: and San Francisco, CA offices. We are looking for a Summer Associate who can: 

Independently plan and execute on one or more research and/or analysis tasks. This includes: 

  • Creating workplans from the project’s high level goals, setting efficient yet practical deadlines, and developing an approach to the research and/or analysis needed 
  • Leveraging problem solving skills to generate frameworks and structure the client’s business problem into logical manageable components that will guide their growth strategy
  • Remaining flexible and adaptable when goals or deadlines shift, and being able to scale a workstream to meet the client’s needs
  • Leading junior staff in designing financial and operational models and conducting secondary and primary research gathering activities, including surveys and expert interviews
  • Synthesizing complex data and qualitative information into meaningful insights 

Meaningfully contribute to the team’s efforts in achieving client goals. This includes: 

  • Confidently communicating complex ideas and concepts via verbal, written, and visual means 
  • Playing an active role in formulating the full storyline of the project, and being able to distill the key information into an executive narrative 
  • Establishing a viewpoint on what key questions should be prioritized beyond what’s articulated in the explicit agreement and developing hypotheses that address those questions 
  • Developing content mastery and bringing in learnings from outside material or prior projects

Compensation: $3,500/week
