About the Role

WSP Middle East is seeking a motivated Intern – Power to join the Utilities department based in the Abu Dhabi office. The intern will assist senior engineers in creating design layouts, performing load calculations, and validating network models using industry‑standard software tools. This role offers hands‑on experience in power distribution design for large‑scale infrastructure developments in the United Arab Emirates.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in drafting medium‑voltage (MV) and low‑voltage (LV) network schematics.
  • Support road‑lighting layout design and coordination with civil teams.
  • Prepare telecoms power distribution drawings and calculations.
  • Perform load flow and short‑circuit analysis using software such as ETAP or PowerFactory.
  • Validate design outputs against project specifications and standards.
  • Update and maintain design databases and GIS layers.
  • Participate in design review meetings and incorporate feedback.
  • Help generate design documentation, reports, and as‑built records.
  • Conduct site visits to verify existing conditions when required.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure integrated utility solutions.

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s program in Electrical Engineering or related field (final year preferred). Fresh graduates are also welcome to apply. 
  • Basic knowledge of MV/LV power distribution principles and road‑lighting systems.
  • Familiarity with power analysis software (e.g., ETAP, PowerFactory, SKM Power Tools).
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil/Power or similar drafting tools.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication in English.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Eligibility to work in the United Arab Emirates.
  • Eagerness to learn and adapt to fast‑paced project settings.
