TITLE: Product Sales Coordinator – Summer Intern (Apples, Pears & Cherries)

DEPARTMENT: Apples, Pears & Cherries

REPORTS TO: Director of Sales & Operations

LOCATION: Union Gap, WA (Onsite; occasional travel required)


SUMMARY: This is a great summer opportunity which could transition to a full-time role. Bring us your customer service, communications, and organizational skills and learn how L&M works across NC, FL, GA, and WA. The Product Coordinator Intern ensures quality and production team goals which includes a range of oversight including planning, scheduling, directing, and executing production activities for maximum performance.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Gain hands-on experience with the company’s apple, pear, and cherry commodities and their production, quality, inventory, and sales processes
  • Participate in all phases of the sales cycle, including order entry, administrative and sales support, customer service, and back-office functions
  • Work closely with the Sales team to assist with order entry, sales calls, customer support, and other sales-related activities
  • Assist with Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and other administrative and accounting functions
  • Support production and warehouse operations, including inventory management, product loading, shipping activities, and coordination with truck drivers
  • Assist with grower relations, including providing support with the Grower Portal and printing product tags
  • Gain exposure to quality control processes and the coordination of product from growers through production, warehousing, and shipment
  • Supports company activities and operations at various locations during the growing season, including travel to partner, grower, customer, and other business-related locations

TRAVEL:

  • Approximately 35% travel from May through August, with travel expenses paid including local and out-of-state travel to Apple Valley, WA; Grandview, WA; and Hood River, OR

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • Builds and maintains effective working relationship with growers and customers, while giving top customer service
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills – including the ability to listen effectively – and the ability to think / respond / react appropriately in fluid situations
  • Knowledge of general accounting principles and practices
  • Knowledge of USDA standards and regulations
  • Computer proficient with a working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
  • Must have the ability to reliably travel to various work locations as required

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • High School Diploma or General Equivalency Degree (GED) required
  • Some college preferred
  • Customer service experience
  • Fresh produce experience preferred

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Work may involve a combination of indoor and outdoor environments, with opportunities to move between work locations to gain exposure to different areas of the company and learn about various operations
  • Dynamic and fast-paced office environment
  • Warehouse and field environments with varying temperatures, noise levels, equipment, machinery, and vehicle traffic, including exposure to moving equipment, forklifts, agricultural machinery, delivery vehicles, and other equipment associated with company operations
  • May be exposed to dust, dirt, pollen, soil, plant materials, and other conditions commonly associated with agricultural and orchard environments
  • Regular exposure to outdoor weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, wind, humidity, and varying seasonal conditions
