 Day-to-Day Responsibilities

As a Communications Intern at Unilever, you will support a variety of projects that help connect our business, brands, people and sustainability ambitions with key internal and external stakeholders. Working in a fast-paced corporate environment, you will gain exposure to strategic communications, stakeholder engagement, content development and reputation management while contributing to meaningful business priorities.

Depending on the team and business needs, your responsibilities may include:

  • Creating engaging communication materials for internal and external audiences, including articles, newsletters, presentations, leadership communications and digital content.
  • Supporting the planning and execution of communication campaigns and engagement initiatives across a variety of channels and platforms.
  • Conducting research and benchmarking activities to identify industry trends, best practices and opportunities to strengthen communication approaches.
  • Gathering, analysing and translating insights, data and complex topics into clear, audience-focused messages and recommendations.
  • Supporting projects related to sustainability, corporate reputation, business transformation, employee engagement and other strategic priorities.
  • Collaborating with stakeholders across different functions to collect input, coordinate activities and ensure effective communication delivery.
  • Assisting with the development of communication strategies, content calendars, events and stakeholder engagement activities.
  • Supporting the management of communication channels and platforms, helping ensure information is relevant, engaging and accessible to the intended audience.
  • Contributing to the monitoring and communication of business initiatives, progress updates and key organisational developments.

What You'll Learn

During this internship, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Gain a unique insight into how a global organisation communicates with employees, consumers, media, policymakers and other stakeholders.
  • Develop strong stakeholder management and collaboration skills by working with colleagues across multiple functions and business areas.
  • Understand how communication supports business priorities, change management, reputation building and sustainability ambitions.
  • Build experience in creating impactful content and delivering communications that drive awareness, engagement and understanding.
  • Take ownership of day-to-day projects and communication activities while developing professional skills in a supportive environment.

What we're looking for:

  • Available for 5-6 months starting February-March 2027 (minimum 32-40 hours per week)
  • Currently enrolled in a (HBO) Dutch university, Bachelor's program (3rd or 4th year) or a Master's program
  • Eager to learn, challenge yourself, and take ownership of impactful projects
  • Available to work on site 2-3 days a week at our Rotterdam Office
