About The Company
At Burke®, play moves us each and every day to bring the best in play, playgrounds, recreation and outdoor fitness equipment to communities around the world. As we celebrate over 100 years in the playground industry, our focus is clear – using our research to design the most innovative environments that bring everyone together and help them grow, develop, socialize and foster thriving communities. Creating environments for children and communities to move and develop socially, emotionally, physically and cognitively is a privilege for us now and into the future. Our spaces aren’t just for physical movement; they ignite cognitive, social, emotional and imaginative skill development in people of all abilities. The fusion of traditional and active-based play serves to create an environment where everyone can play and grow together. It fosters opportunities for intergenerational engagement and helps everyone find the best of themselves through play. It’s time to Join Our Movement® and see how play can move your community.
About the Role

Description

Join Our Movement!

We’re a growing company that designs and manufactures playground equipment for communities all around the world! Be part of something bigger with Burke by Joining Our Movement! We’re looking for an HR Intern to join us, starting in early 2027 through August. This role will be housed at our Burke offices in Fond du Lac, WI.

What Moves You?

We’re not going to lie; this is an amazing opportunity. It requires hard work, a lot of innovation and enthusiasm and, of course, an abundance of Purple Passion (def. a love of play, bringing play to communities and specific love of Burke and those you work with)! If you have a passion to learn more about human resources in a manufacturing environment - we have the role for you!

The Role

The HR Intern will gain hands-on experience across a variety of Human Resources functions while providing day-to-day support to the HR team. This internship is designed to provide exposure to the employee lifecycle, including recruiting, onboarding, employee records, HR systems, employee engagement, training, and general HR operations.

The HR Intern will work closely with members of the HR team and employees throughout the organization, gaining practical experience in how Human Resources supports employees and business operations. The role will also have opportunities to take ownership of defined projects and process improvements throughout the internship.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with new hire onboarding, including pre-employment activities, orientation preparation, documentation, and follow-up.
  • Support recruiting activities, including posting positions, reviewing applications, scheduling interviews, coordinating candidate communication, and preparing interview materials.
  • Assist with maintaining personnel files and other HR documentation.
  • Lead the new hire check-in process, gather insights and suggest improvements on information collected.
  • Assist with employee engagement, wellness, recognition, and other company events.
  • Support routine employee questions and direct more complex questions to the appropriate HR team member.
  • Participate in HR projects and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Identify opportunities to improve HR processes, tools, communications, and the employee experience.
  • Maintain confidentiality of employee and company information.
  • Perform other HR-related duties and projects as assigned.

During the internship, the HR Intern will have the opportunity to:

  • Gain practical experience across multiple areas of Human Resources.
  • Learn how HR supports employees throughout the employee lifecycle.
  • Develop experience using HR systems and working with employee data.
  • Build professional communication and organizational skills.
  • Gain exposure to HR practices within a manufacturing environment.
  • Participate in recruiting, onboarding, engagement, training, and HR operations.
  • Own projects from planning through implementation.
  • Work directly with HR professionals and business leaders.

Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Management, or a related field.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to communicate professionally with employees at all levels of the organization.
  • Comfortable working with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrated discretion and ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Willingness to learn, ask questions, and take initiative.
