Property and Casualty (P&C) Insurance plays a vital role in helping individuals and businesses manage risk by transferring potential financial losses to insurers. At the heart of this process is the underwriter—a key decision-maker who evaluates risk and crafts insurance solutions that protect what matters most.

As a P&C Underwriting Intern, you will gain hands-on experience in assessing risk, structuring policies, collaborating with internal and external partners, and managing a business portfolio. Opportunity: 

We are seeking a motivated and curious individual to join our Cyber & Technology Errors & Omissions (E&O) team in NYC. This 12-week paid summer internship offers a deep dive into the world of commercial underwriting.

You will:

  • Learn how to evaluate and underwrite Cyber insurance, Errors & Omissions insurance, Miscellaneous Professional liability and Media Liability.
  • Analyze Insureds’ cyber hygiene and professional liability exposures through the analysis of submission materials (applications, 10k findings, news articles, claim trends and customer meetings)
  • Collaborate with experienced underwriters and cross-functional teams, including the claims and actuarial teams.
  • Meet external broker partners and clients that will begin to build your professional network
  • Participate in real-world projects that impact our customers and business.
  • Collaborate with BHSI Interns across North America.

Pay Transparency

The base salary range for this position is from $22/hour - $26/hour; a candidate’s salary is determined by their relevant skills and experience. We value our teammates – both their capabilities and character – as demonstrated by our amazing culture.
