Pay Range

$41,600.00-$52,600.00 Annual

This is the base salary pay range that an applicant can expect to make upon hire.   Pay within this range will vary based upon relevant experience, skills, and education among other factors.

Defiance would like to participate in the 2027 Summer Intern Program.  We would prefer an Electrical or Mechanical Engineer but would also be interested in a Chemical Engineer that is looking for Process experience.  The focus in the plant for the intern would be process improvement work. 

Engineering Co-Ops thrive at JM because we give our employees the ability to do things they wouldn't be able to anywhere else. As intern at our Defiance, OH facility you will work side by side with other engineering professionals and plant leadership by participating in hands on activities such PLC troubleshooting & programing, project & maintenance engineering.

This position is located at our plant location in Defiance, OH and candidates must live within a 200-mile radius of Defiance, OH.

Our intern program is designed to provide hands-on engineering and business experience through challenging assignments focused on innovation and growth.

We take a holistic approach to our internships by assigning meaningful projects, educating interns on JM's history and values, and providing additional development and volunteer opportunities.

At the completion of their summer internship, JM interns present their work to senior management at our corporate headquarters in Denver, Colorado. These leaders provide valuable feedback and insight for interns as they enter the workforce. 

Your Day to Day:

  • Provide engineering services for manufacturing enhancements around problem areas and recommend a course of action.
    Provide engineering services for more complex problems under direct guidance of higher-level engineering personnel.
  • Take an active part in the execution of projects.
  • Assist Sr. Engineers on technical service initiatives with sampling, analysis, and recommendations.
  • Develop and integrate product and process documentation ensuring consistency and accuracy
  • Provide project status updates and reports as required.

What You Bring to the Team:

  • Pursuing a B.S. degree in Engineering (Electrical preferred other engineering degrees will be considered)
  • Completed at least sophomore year of undergraduate course work and plan to be enrolled in Fall classes.
  • Microsoft Office (Word, Excel PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Engineers who are interested in a 2027 summer internship that are available to start at the middle to end of May and work full time until the first week of August.

Preferred Qualifications

  • GPA of at least 3.0 at an accredited college or university.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills
  • Basic understanding of production processes
  • Strategic and creative thinking
  • CAD experience
