The Student Engagement department leads FEE's student-facing events. Through a mix of in-person and virtual programs, FEE partners with schools, educators, and organizations to introduce students to the principles of a free society, fostering deeper understanding and thoughtful discussions. Domestically, FEE's programs have reached students in nearly all 50 states. Internationally, FEE has a growing footprint in Latin America.

About This Internship

This role will assist with FEE’s new initiative, the Economics Olympiad (EO). EO is FEE's international student competition, running students through a School Round and a National Round on their way to an International Final Round. In Canada and the USA, the program is scaling to reach students at schools across both countries during the School Round, before bringing top performers together for an in-person National Round in Washington, DC. Behind the scenes, a small team of staff and partners keeps teachers, students, and parents informed and supported at every stage, helping turn the National Round into a well-run, memorable event.

The Economics Olympiad Intern will be the front line of that experience — helping students, teachers, and parents get clear, timely answers as they move through the School and National Rounds, while also supporting the planning of the National Round event in DC. This is an opportunity for the ideal candidate to combine a love for the ideas of a free society with a passion for clear communication and flawless event execution.

Responsibilities:
  • Draft, send, and track communications to registered teachers and students throughout registration, testing, and the National Round — reminders, deadlines, logistics updates, and FAQs.
  • Monitor inboxes and shared communication channels to ensure inquiries are answered promptly and accurately.
  • Support planning and execution of the National Round in Washington, DC, including venue coordination, vendor and catering logistics, AV needs, schedules, and day-of logistics packets.
  • Help maintain registration and communication records (e.g., in Salesforce) so participant status and outreach history stay accurate and up to date.
  • Assist with creating participant-facing materials such as logistics packets, FAQs, itineraries, and confirmation emails.
  • Work closely with your intern supervisor on new projects, ideas, and initiatives related to the Economic Olympiad.
  • Track and report relevant KPIs (e.g., response times, registration follow-through, inquiry volume).

Skills:
  • Business, Economics, Project Management or other related majors desired, but not required.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and strong customer service skills.
  • Ability juggling multiple priorities while keeping everything on track and maintaining careful attention to detail.
  • The ability to work independently and take initiative with minimal supervision.
  • A proactive, entrepreneurial spirit to improve existing programs.
  • A collaborative personality; unafraid of challenge.
  • An unwavering commitment to the mission and principles of FEE.
