As a Reliability Engineering Intern, you will work alongside experienced engineers, maintenance professionals, and production teams to identify opportunities to improve equipment performance, reduce downtime, and support site reliability programs. This internship provides an opportunity to apply engineering principles in a real manufacturing environment while contributing to Novonesis' operational success.


The Role & Your Impact

As a Reliability Engineering Intern, you will support projects focused on equipment reliability, predictive maintenance, asset improvement, and data-driven problem solving. This role combines technical analysis with hands-on plant exposure, allowing you to develop practical engineering skills while contributing to meaningful business outcomes.


Key responsibilities include:

  • Support reliability and maintenance improvement projects across the Blair manufacturing site.
  • Assist with equipment performance analysis and identification of reliability improvement opportunities.
  • Collect, analyze, and interpret maintenance and operational data to support decision-making.
  • Participate in root cause investigations and corrective action development.
  • Assist with preventive and predictive maintenance initiatives.
  • Collaborate with engineering, maintenance, and operations teams to improve asset performance and equipment uptime.
  • Document findings, prepare reports, and present recommendations to stakeholders.


What You’ll Need to Be Successful

Required Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering.
  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
  • Ability to analyze technical data and communicate findings effectively.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Ways of Working / Working Conditions

  • Full-time internship assignment lasting approximately 10 weeks.
  • Located on-site at our Blair, Nebraska facility.
  • Frequent interaction with production and maintenance areas.
  • May require extended periods of walking through the facility and climbing stairs.
  • Use of required personal protective equipment (PPE) in designated manufacturing areas.
  • Work may include exposure to industrial noise, equipment, and varying plant conditions.


Compensation

Expected salary: $23/hr

Program Dates: May 24, 2027 to July 30, 2027 

Position Type: Temporary position payrolled through a third-party provider
