As a Commercial Credit Intern at our Lansing – Abbot Rd. office, you will join a team of passionate problem solvers dedicated to protecting Independent Bank capital while serving the needs of our internal and external clients. In this full-time summer opportunity, you will work closely with Credit Analysts and gain hands-on experience with financial statement spreading, borrowing bases, commercial loan underwriting, and credit analysis.

What You Will Do:

  • Review credit information to assist in evaluating commercial loan requests.
  • Assist with financial statement spreading, borrowing bases, and commercial loan underwriting.
  • Analyze personal and corporate tax returns, financial statements, and cash flow information to identify potential risks.
  • Assist with monitoring the commercial credit portfolio.
  • Analyze various sources of financial information to support credit decisions.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Basic understanding of accounting and finance. 
  • Strong communication, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Experience with Microsoft Product Suites.
  • Must be currently enrolled in a relevant field of study.
