Circle of Care for Families and Children of Passaic County, Inc., located in Woodland Park, NJ, is seeking a Finance Intern for the Spring Semester.
Summary of Learning Opportunity:
The Finance Internship is designed to provide students with hands-on exposure to accounting and financial operations within a nonprofit human services organization.
Throughout the internship, the intern will work closely with the Staff Accountant and Finance team and have opportunities to observe, learn, and participate in financial processes, including account reconciliations, financial documentation, recordkeeping, and other accounting activities.
This is a temporary, unpaid internship focused on experiential learning, professional development, mentorship, and the practical application of accounting and finance concepts learned in an academic setting.
Learning Opportunities May Include:
• Gaining exposure to monthly account reconciliation processes under the guidance of the Staff Accountant
• Learning how financial transactions and supporting documentation are reviewed and maintained
• Developing an understanding of general accounting and financial processes within a nonprofit organization
• Gaining hands-on experience with financial data entry, recordkeeping, and documentation
• Learning how financial records and account activity are reviewed and reconciled for accuracy
• Gaining exposure to accounts payable and accounts receivable processes
• Assisting with organizing financial documents and maintaining accurate records
• Developing proficiency with spreadsheets and financial systems used by the Finance Department
• Learning about internal financial controls, confidentiality, and proper documentation practices
• Participating in Finance team meetings and trainings to gain a broader understanding of nonprofit financial operations
• Developing professional skills related to accuracy, organization, communication, time management, and attention to detail
• Receiving guidance and feedback from Finance professionals to support continued learning and professional development
Education and Experience:
Current enrollment in a Bachelor’s Degree Program, preferably in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
Completion of Accounting I and Accounting II is required. Intermediate Accounting coursework is preferred but not required.
