About the Role
Overview

This is an onsite role with potential flexibility for hybrid days inside and outside of the NYC/Bryant Park office. 

 

First Citizens Bank (NASDAQ: FCNCA) offers an exciting summer internship program that provides development opportunities and hands on work experience while creating a talent pipeline for the Bank’s full-time analyst program. Our interns will apply classroom knowledge in a corporate environment while making a positive impact across the organization and the communities we serve. Our Healthcare Medical Office Building (“MOB”) team provides comprehensive commercial real estate banking and debt solutions to private equity sponsors who specialize/invest in MOB’s across the country.  Summer Analysts will support the Underwriting and Portfolio teams with the unique opportunity to gain exposure across real estate finance, healthcare, banking and deal execution including:

 

  • Commercial real estate underwriting, financial analysis, tenant analysis, cash flow and Argus modeling
  • Acquisition, sale-leaseback, construction, recapitalization, and portfolio deals
  • Diverse healthcare real estate assets including medical office, specialty hospitals, surgery centers, inpatient rehabilitation facilities and other outpatient property types
  • Market analysis of CRE/MOB, leasing, and healthcare trends across the U.S.
  • Credit risk analysis and management
  • Loan documentation, commercial leases, appraisals, and other due diligence

Responsibilities & Qualifications

In this role, you will:

  • Be part of a dynamic team with interesting projects. 
  • Attend professional development sessions and informational sessions.
  • Have a dedicated manager and program manager to help you navigate the bank and the internship program.
  • Work as part of a Deal Team on live transactions, engaged in many aspects of credit underwriting and portfolio management, including company and industry due diligence, financial analysis, credit memo preparation and portfolio management activities.
  • Participate in internal credit approval meetings and client/customer calls, as appropriate.

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma OR GED and 1 year of experience
  • Currently enrolled at an accredited collegiate institution (during the time of the summer program)
  • Ability to work 40 hours per week during the duration of the program

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3.0 minimum GPA
  • Rising Senior (May 2028 Grad)
  • Strong desire to learn and grow.
  • Pursuing a bachelor’s degree with a major/concentration in finance, accounting, economics, and/or real estate
  • Possess a positive attitude, naturally curious and enjoys collaborating with others.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Critical thinking skills
  • Ability to multitask.
  • Ability to adapt and adjust priorities based on business needs.
  • Ability to take direction and absorb information quickly.

Additional Information

If hired in NY, the base pay for this position is generally between $22.44 and $26.40. Actual starting base pay will be determined based on skills, experience, location, and other non-discriminatory factors permitted by law. For some roles, total compensation may also include variable incentives, bonuses, benefits, and/or other awards as outlined in the offer of employment.
