Job Description
Job Description: The Community Events Team Lead contributes to ONC’s mission of providing
nonpartisan news, opinions, and policy solutions by leading the Community Events team in
planning, coordinating, and hosting speaker series, networking opportunities, and community
engagement events for ONC interns and the external community. The Team Lead supports the
development of ONC’s College Campus Initiative and College Chapters, promoting conversations
that spotlight political tolerance and tangible solutions. This includes overseeing outreach to
potential speakers, mentors, ONC advisors, college clubs, and campus representatives. We are
seeking an energetic, dedicated, and confident leader with management and leadership
experience who is comfortable taking initiative, making decisions within their role, and keeping
team operations running smoothly. The Team Lead will organize priorities, delegate
responsibilities, support interns, and ensure projects move forward with clear expectations and
consistent follow-through.
This position is remote, with work primarily conducted through Zoom, Slack, and Google
Workspace. Applicants must be comfortable leading a remote team, maintaining regular
communication, and proactively addressing challenges. The Team Lead must commit through the
end of the current semester. Opportunities to extend may be available based on performance and
organizational needs.
Compensation: This is an unpaid internship position.

Responsibilities:
- Lead Community Events interns, set clear expectations, and promote accountability and
- collaboration.
- Delegate assignments, monitor progress, and ensure deliverables and deadlines are met.
- Take initiative to resolve challenges, improve workflows, and keep remote operations
- running smoothly.
- Maintain organized Slack communication, project updates, and shared calendars.
- Lead weekly Community Department meetings and follow up on action items.
- Oversee speaker series, campus outreach, ONC booths, and networking opportunities.
- Collaborate with the Director of Community Events, COO, and CEO on the College
- Campus Initiative and ONC College Chapters.
- Guide outreach to speakers, mentors, experts, ONC advisors, college clubs, and campus
- representatives.
- Coordinate event scheduling, speaker confirmations, Zoom setup, Eventbrite listings, and
- attendee communications.
- Partner with other ONC departments on event promotion and execution.
- Support onboarding, coach interns, and provide constructive feedback.
- Report team progress, resource needs, and escalated challenges to leadership.
- Gather event feedback and recommend improvements.
Qualifications
Requirements: The Community Events Team Lead should have the following skills, education,
and experience:
- Management or leadership experience through work, internships, student organizations,
- volunteer programs, or team projects.
- Interest in event management, community engagement, or nonprofit leadership; study in
- Business Administration, Marketing, Public Relations, Political Science, or a related field is
- preferred.
- Confident leading a team, delegating work, and holding members accountable
- professionally.
- Energetic, dedicated, and proactive, with strong ownership and follow-through.
- Strong organizational and time management skills across multiple projects and deadlines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Responsive, consistent, and effective communication, including during conflict.
- Ability to lead remotely, collaborate effectively, and work independently.
- Sound judgment in resolving issues and involving leadership when needed.
- Comfort using Slack, Zoom, and Google Workspace; Eventbrite experience preferred.
- Ability to attend weekly organization-wide meetings and lead weekly Community
- Department meetings.
- Must be authorized to intern in the U.S.
