Summary
This is an established internship for an undergraduate or postgraduate student at Durham University to develop their skills and experience within our Marketing and Communications Office. This internship presents an ideal development opportunity for an individual wishing to pursue a career in marketing and communications, PR, media or film making, providing an opportunity to develop filming and editing skills in particular.
Our videos help to promote the student, teaching and research experience of a world top 100 university. During the internship the post-holder will obtain experience of working within a busy, award-winning Marketing and Communications team and supporting colleagues by working to an agreed brief to produce video content for the University’s owned channels (social media and website) and for external use (media).
The post holder will also gain experience of filming research and corporate videos outlining the University’s work, editing skills using Final Cut Pro and i-Movie, as well as the use of an online copyright free music library and access to stock images and video. Equipment including a video camera, tripod and editing software (Final Cut Pro) will be provided.
The role is for up to four hours each week. The role is flexible during term-time and the amount of hours available to you can vary according to volume of work. You would not be expected to work during holiday periods outside of term-time. We also provide flexibility around key times in the student calendar, such as exams, when you might not be available to work due to other commitments.
Durham University operates a hybrid model of home and office working. You will have access to the Marketing and Communications Office’s editing software and filming equipment in the Palatine Centre, on Stockton Road, Durham City. If you have access to your own editing software, and wish to work remotely on occasion, this would also be beneficial.
