About The Company
SWD is located in the Greater Kansas City Area. We are a 501 C3 Fair Hiring Policy Employment, Workforce Development, Pre- apprenticeship Nonprofit organization. SWD works with over 150 employers and Allied Trade Unions.

This is a free training class, not a job opening. Strategic Workforce Development (SWD) is a Kansas City nonprofit. Classes are held in Kansas City, Missouri, with an online section. You must be able to attend in Kansas City or join the online section live.

AI Futures Lab — one class, everything in it

We used to run three separate AI classes. Now it is one. Whether you are job hunting, working a job, running a business or starting one, you are in the same room learning the same tool. The class is built around Claude, the AI assistant SWD trains on, so you leave knowing one tool well instead of a little about many.

What You Will Learn

  • Write emails, resumes, cover letters, reports and everyday documents with AI
  • Organize your workload, plan projects and save hours every week
  • Use AI in a business: proposals, pricing, customer messages, marketing and bookkeeping support
  • Use AI to start and run a business: business plans, branding, contracts and funding research
  • Connect AI to the tools you already use, like Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Use AI safely and responsibly, and check its work
  • Leadership for AI: how to direct AI the way a manager directs a team

Class Format

Four hands-on sessions over two weeks, ending with a real-world assessment. Computers are provided on site. No experience required. No tech background required.

  • Morning — SWD Office: 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM, 402 E. Bannister Rd., Suite C & D, Kansas City, MO 64131
  • Afternoon — LAMP Campus (KC Digital Drive): 1:00 – 3:00 PM, 1801 Linwood Blvd., Kansas City, MO 64109
  • Online — Thursday evenings: 7:00 PM

Free. There is no cost to apply and no cost to attend.
