About The Company
Art is the foundation of David Yurman. Incorporated in New York City in 1980 by sculptor David Yurman and his wife, painter Sybil Yurman, the privately held American jewelry company traces its origins to the design house they established a decade earlier, in 1970. Rooted in the American craft movement of the 1960s and 1970s, the brand is known for its fine jewelry, watches, and accessories. The company gained prominence in the early 1980s for its signature Cable motif, a twisted helix form derived from the coiled metal rods of David Yurman's direct-welded sculpture practice, which became a defining element of its collections. During the 1980s and 1990s, the David Yurman brand was at the forefront of the emerging category of American designer jewelry. Headquartered in New York City, David Yurman has grown into an international luxury brand with more than 70 retail locations across the United States, Canada, Hong Kong, and France, as well as a network of wholesale partners. The company remains family-operated, with its design direction led by David and Sybil Yurman in collaboration with their son, Evan Yurman. The brand is recognized for integrating traditional craftsmanship with innovative materials and for emphasizing jewelry as wearable art, produced in cohesive collections intended to be layered and collected.
