About The Company
G2V Optics is a global leader in smart, precision lighting and is committed to creating enabling technologies to power the world of tomorrow. G2V currently provides technology solutions to world-leading researchers, Fortune 500 technology firms, and aerospace companies in over 40 countries. G2V sells several solar simulation product lines globally and enables our customers to develop solutions for a more sustainable built world. Our customers use G2V's photons to drive the most critical developments in solar renewable energy, reliable advanced materials, and space exploration of this decade and beyond. Across the value chain of each of these sectors, highly reliable lighting is needed to develop, manufacture, process, and test the devices and outputs in each case. Our software-controlled Engineered Sunlight™ technology acts as a foundation to replicate geography-, season-, and altitude-specific natural lighting environments, as well as create light that matches the spectrum, uniformity, and stability requirements of scientific standards. We're proud to say that one of our key projects includes providing solar simulation light arrays to NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center for testing the OSAM-1 spacecraft.
About the Role

Job Description - Product Development Engineering Co-op Student

October 2026

Level I Engineer

About G2V Optics

G2V Optics is a global leader in advanced lighting technologies. Founded in 2015 based on technology invented at the U of A, the company now provides solutions to some of the coolest organizations in the world (think along the lines of NASA, Oxford PV, Meta, Tesla and NREL!). They use our light to power the most critical developments in solar renewable energy, advanced materials, and space exploration.

We are an agile team that functions on a startup-style culture based on quick learning, honesty and personal development, flexibility, and balance. If you want to be part of a team that's making a global impact from right here in Edmonton, join us.

Stewardship of G2V Core Values

Every member of the G2V team is expected to embody these core values — not as aspirational guidelines, but as the lived standard of how we work, communicate, and make decisions every day.

  1. Do the Right Thing — This is who we are when no one is watching. We do right by people and the planet — making hard calls, telling uncomfortable truths, owning our mistakes, and holding each other accountable.
  2. Sharpen the Team — This is the environment we build. We add energy instead of draining it, assume good intent, and make it safe to be honest, take risks, and admit mistakes — because the team matters more than our egos.
  3. Make it Happen — This is our engine. We don’t wait to be told what matters, we keep going when others might stop, and we take ownership of outcomes — valuing impact more than effort.
  4. Close the Loop — This is where it all comes together. We seek feedback from each other and our customers, learn equally from our successes and failures, and make sure we don’t solve the same problem twice.
