About the Role

When we put unexpected teams in the same room, we unleash bold thinking with the power to inspire life-changing medicines. In-person working gives us the platform to connect, work at pace and challenge perceptions. That’s why we work, on average, a minimum of three days per week from the office. But that doesn’t mean we’re not flexible. We balance the expectation of being in the office while respecting individual flexibility. Join us in our unique and ambitious world.

This is what you will do:

Step into a role where science, technology, and global healthcare come together. As a Regulatory Innovation & AI Transformation Intern, you will help Alexion’s Global Regulatory Affairs teams explore how AI, data, and digital tools can make regulatory work smarter, clearer, and more connected.

This is a hands-on opportunity for a curious student or early-career professional who wants to learn how medicines reach patients, how regulated global teams operate, and how emerging technologies can support the future of regulatory operations.

You will be responsible for:

  • Help shape AI-enabled ways of working by supporting real Regulatory Affairs initiatives, capturing use cases, gathering feedback, and turning ideas into practical next steps.
  • Turn complex project activity into clear, engaging materials such as slide content, briefing notes, visual updates, FAQs, and stakeholder communications.
  • Support digital transformation delivery by tracking actions, milestones, decisions, risks, and follow-ups across meetings, workshops, and working sessions.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across Regulatory Affairs, technology, project teams, and business functions to understand how global biopharmaceutical teams deliver change in a regulated environment.
  • Bring curiosity, fresh thinking, and a student perspective to help simplify templates, improve communications, and make digital innovation easier for teams to understand and adopt.
  • Take ownership of a defined intern deliverable, such as an AI use-case tracker, adoption dashboard, communications pack, or lessons-learned summary that can be shared with the wider team

What will help you succeed:

  • Currently pursuing, or recently completed, a bachelor’s or master’s degree in a relevant discipline such as life sciences, digital health, project management, communications, or a related field.
  • Interest in AI, digital transformation, project management, regulatory operations, or technology-enabled business improvement.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to track actions, maintain documentation, and follow through on assigned tasks.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills, with attention to clarity, accuracy, and audience needs.
  • Strong prompting skills and prior experience applying AI tools to explore, test, and improve ways of working in an academic, project, or professional setting.
  • Comfortable using Microsoft 365 tools such as Outlook, Teams, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel; willingness to learn new collaboration and project tracking tools.
  • Ability to work collaboratively, ask questions, take direction, and manage multiple support tasks in a professional environment.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English.

It would be a bonus if you have:

  • Exposure to AI concepts, responsible AI principles, automation tools, or data analytics through academic work, internships, projects, or personal learning.
  • Basic understanding of project management concepts such as milestones, risks, actions, decisions, timelines, and status reporting.
  • Experience preparing presentations, meeting notes, reports, newsletters, or stakeholder updates.
  • Experience or interest in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, regulatory affairs, or healthcare technology environment..
  • Ability to simplify complex information into clear written or visual summaries.

What you will gain:

  • Build foundational understanding of how AI and digital tools can support regulatory operations and business transformation.
  • Develop professional communication skills by supporting internal and external updates, presentations, briefing materials, and knowledge-sharing content.
  • Learn how cross-functional teams collaborate in a regulated global biopharmaceutical environment.

At Alexion, you will find a collaborative culture that encourages innovation and a diverse environment where your contributions are valued. You will have the opportunity to be at the forefront of rare disease research and make a meaningful difference in patients' lives.
