About the Scholarship

The 2027 EVT Hotel Scholarship is a pathway into a career in hotels, open to current hospitality students at Auckland University of Technology (AUT). You'll receive a $4,000 scholarship and part-time paid work at Rydges Auckland from January 2027. Over the year, you'll spend 4 months in each of our core hotel departments: Front Office, Housekeeping, and Food and Beverage. You'll build real, hands-on skills across the hotel while unlocking career paths with EVT, one of New Zealand's leading hotel groups.

Key Responsibilities

• Complete a rotation of 4 months each in Front Office, Housekeeping, and Food and Beverage
• Work part-time at Rydges Auckland, with a minimum of 10 hours per week
• Learn from experienced operational leaders and management professionals
• Deliver warm, can-do service that makes every guest's stay memorable
• Complete 450 hours of work to unlock your scholarship payment
• Pass all subjects in semesters one and two while balancing work and study

What You'll Bring

• Currently studying hospitality at AUT as a full-time first-year student, moving into your second year in 2027
• New Zealand citizenship or permanent residency

How to Apply

Applications are open now and close on 19 November. To apply, you'll need:

• Your semester one transcript from your first year of study
• A personal statement outlining your academic achievements, career aspirations, and interest in the hospitality sector
• An academic and/or character reference

Shortlisting and interviews take place from 20 November to 8 December, led by the Rydges Auckland General Manager and Head of Department. The successful scholar starts employment and the scholarship in January 2027..
