Position Overview
LGES-Vertech is seeking a versatile and motivated Data & Software Engineer with DevOps expertise to join our in-person team in Westborough,MA. This role is ideal for someone who thrives at the intersection of data engineering, software development, and DevOps practices. You will play a key role in building and maintaining scalable data pipelines, developing robust backend services, and deploying reliable systems in production environments.

You will work cross-functionally with data scientists, software engineers, and operations teams to support high-impact data products and analytics pipelines across our energy systems platform.

Key Responsibilities

Data Engineering

Design, build, and maintain scalable and efficient ETL/ELT pipelines
Integrate data from diverse sources, including APIs, databases, cloud services, and IoT systems
Leverage Snowflake and Snowpark for data transformations, performance optimization, and advanced analytics workflows
Apply best practices in data modeling and implement data ingestion routines in both real-time and batch scenarios.
Ensure robust data governance, quality, and lineage across the stack

Software Engineering

Develop and maintain backend services and RESTful APIs using Python
Build and orchestrate microservices that support modular, scalable data-driven applications
Develop distributed task queues and background jobs
Write clean, testable, and maintainable code with appropriate documentation and test coverage

DevOps & Infrastructure

Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines for data and software products
Deploy and monitor applications in cloud (e.g., AWS, GCP, or Azure) or on-prem environments
Automate infrastructure and service configurations using tools like Terraform or Ansible
Implement system observability with logging, metrics, and alerting for microservice-based platforms

Job Requirements

Required Qualifications:

1-2 years of industry experience in a combination of data engineering, backend software development, and/or DevOps roles
Proficiency with Snowflake and Snowpark, including UDFs, stored procedures, and service integration
Strong Python skills; familiarity with task orchestration tools like Celery
Experience building and managing microservice architecture
Demonstrated experience working with AWS Services like S3, Lambda, Glue, Redshift, or equivalent cloud platforms
Hands-on experience with Kubernetes for container orchestration and deployment
Solid understanding of SQL and experience with relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL)
Experience with data pipeline frameworks (e.g., Airflow, dbt, Kafka)
Familiarity with Git, CI/CD systems, and infrastructure-as-code practices
Strong collaboration, communication, and problem-solving skills
Comfortable in Linux environments and with version control systems like Git.
Proficiency in using Jira for Agile project management.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to collaborate across diverse global teams.
Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without employer sponsorship.

Preferred:

Experience with real-time data streaming (e.g., Kafka, Spark Streaming)
Experience with MLops infrastructure (e.g. AWS Sagemaker)
Familiarity with message brokers and event-driven architecture
Background in energy systems, industrial IoT, or grid-scale data platforms
