About The Company
We help companies with their biggest challenges – market strategies, regulatory reviews, competition inquiries. And we help governments design innovative policies and regulatory systems. Economics is (nearly) everywhere and the economist’s toolkit is large. Clients are surprised at the breadth of our work. Not just the costs of supply, movements in demand, pricing and competitive dynamics. But we are also experts in finance, statistical modelling, game theory, market research and even the psychological side of economics. And we’ve worked in almost every sector imaginable, from fertilisers and oil rigs to handbags and iPads. In some sectors, economics is so critical that we’ve also built specialist knowledge. Our powerful tools and sector knowledge are valuable. But we try not to stop there. Making an impact for clients means understanding the issues, whether it’s the commercial reality of the business; what is really driving customer behaviour; or the political context. We are also aware that our clients want clear and simple advice, from people they trust. So we place a lot of emphasis on our communications, and on human relationships. We provide complex analysis but plain language – English, German, French or Spanish. Our reports are often used in legal proceedings and so our evidential standards are high. We never “write to order”. Our work is respected because we are independent and obsessive about the truth. We work with clients all over the world and have offices in Berlin, Brussels, Cologne, Dublin, Madrid, London and Paris. Our sister company in Australia works from Sydney and Melbourne.
About the Role

Frontier Economics is an economics consultancy that tackles the big questions facing governments, businesses and society. We help our clients to analyse and understand their markets and to formulate strategies based on sound economics. The methods and models we use are often complex, but our advice is always succinct, clear and honest.

We advise across sectors and countries and we are one of the largest economic consultancies in Europe with more than 350 Economists based in our offices in Amsterdam, Berlin, Brussels, Cologne, Dublin, London, Madrid, Paris and Prague. Owned entirely by our staff, our business attracts the best people and the most interesting work. We go beyond the numbers to find out what's really going on. Our clients enjoy objective advice, clearly expressed. With our help, they make better decisions and get better results.

About the role

Our short-term internship runs for 8–12 weeks and is designed for students in their second year of undergraduate study or beyond. It is an opportunity to explore economic consulting, put your academic learning into practice and contribute to meaningful work with support from experienced colleagues.

You do not need previous consulting experience. We will help you learn how to approach new questions, work with evidence and communicate your findings.

What you'll be doing

With support from experienced colleagues, you could:

  • Support economic analysis and research on real-world client questions.
  • Work with data and evidence, developing your confidence in Excel and other analytical tools.
  • Research unfamiliar topics and help identify the most relevant information.
  • Help teams understand the question being asked and structure an approach.
  • Check calculations and assumptions and think about what findings mean.
  • Contribute to clear reports, presentations and team discussions.
  • Manage your tasks with guidance and ask for input when needed.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues across projects.

We encourage you to be curious, ask questions and share your thinking, even when a problem does not have an obvious answer.

Technology, including generative AI, may be used to support tasks such as research, coding and drafting. You will be encouraged to use it thoughtfully and responsibly, check the reliability of outputs and develop your own judgement.

What you'll get out of it

  • Hands-on experience of applying economics to real-world problems.
  • Training, mentoring and feedback from experienced economists.
  • A chance to explore consulting practice areas and different ways of working.
  • Stronger analytical, communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Insight into future graduate opportunities at Frontier.
  • A collaborative environment where questions and different perspectives are welcome.

What we're looking for

You will be in your second year or beyond of an undergraduate degree in Economics or a closely related field. You will also need to be fluent in the language of the office to which you are applying, except Brussels, where English is sufficient.

Beyond these requirements, we are interested in how you think, approach problems and learn. You may be someone who has:

  • An interest in microeconomics and economic questions.
  • Curiosity and enthusiasm for learning about unfamiliar topics.
  • An ability to approach problems logically and explain your thinking.
  • Attention to detail when working with evidence and information.
  • A willingness to ask questions, contribute ideas and learn from feedback.
  • Good communication, teamwork and organisation.

You should have some familiarity with Excel. Experience of R may be helpful but is not required. We welcome an interest in using new technology, including AI, critically and responsibly; you do not need previous AI or consulting experience. The academic and language requirements above are essential, but we do not expect all other skills to be fully developed.

How to apply

If you would like to join Frontier, please submit an application to your preferred office. Please submit only one application; you can indicate other offices you are interested in on the application form.

You are not required to include a photograph on your CV.

Application deadline: Wednesday 28th October 2026

We recommend applying in good time, as vacancies may close earlier if positions are filled or if we receive a high volume of applications.

We want everyone to have an equal opportunity to join Frontier and develop their career here. We are committed to creating an inclusive working environment and to promoting equity, diversity and inclusion in all its forms. Read more about our incentives here:
