About The Company
The Government Technology Agency of Singapore (GovTech) is the lead agency driving Singapore's Smart Nation initiative and public sector digital transformation. We harness the power of technology to make lives better for citizens, businesses, international audiences and the public service sector. Our mission: Engineering Digital Government, Making Lives Better. Our goal is to create a government that is "Digital to the Core, and Serves with Heart". We achieve this by using technology to create services that are easy, seamless and secure for people to use, and placing the needs of citizens and businesses at the centre of everything we do. As a digital government, our public officers are also able to continually upskill, adapt to new challenges and work more effectively across agencies as well as with citizens and businesses in Singapore.
About the Role

[What the role is]

The Data & Research (D&R) department leads Singapore's arts and culture research and data ecosystem, leveraging data analytics and robust data practices to shape national arts and culture policy and programme development. The department works closely with Government, academia, cultural institutions, and arts practitioners to strengthen research capabilities across the sector.

As a D&R intern, you will contribute to live data projects and analytics work while supporting analytics needs across the organisation — a great opportunity to apply your skills in a meaningful, real-world context.

[What you will be working on]

You will work with a range of tools and programming languages — including Excel, AWS QuickSight, SQL, and Python — to extract, clean, transform, analyse, and model data that directly informs arts and culture policy, programming, and operations in Singapore. You will also get hands-on experience designing and building dashboards and visualisations that surface meaningful insights for the organisation, alongside developing good habits around data documentation. Beyond the technical work, you will contribute to the development and rollout of a new data warehouse and visualisation platform, gaining exposure to stakeholder engagement, knowledge management, and how data solutions are adopted across an organisation.

[What we are looking for]

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Data Analytics, Computer Science, Economics, or a related field
  • Some proficiency in Python, SQL, Tableau, AWS QuickSight, or other data and AI tools — you don't need to be an expert, we value curiosity and a willingness to learn
  • An interest in using data to make a difference in the arts and culture sector
  • Able to commit to 3 to 5 working days per week for the duration of the contract period, unless otherwise discussed and agreed upon prior to acceptance
