About The Company
At Promega Corporation, creativity and connection drive discovery and innovation. We celebrate scientific discovery and the creative application of science to solve problems. Interactions with our customers, partners and vendors are central to everything we do, and we value those relationships. We seek out and build connections across the globe and in our local communities because creative problem solving requires a network of diverse ideas and viewpoints. We develop and evolve technologies and instrumentation in collaboration with scientists and researchers around the globe. From simple cloning vectors used to address fundamental questions in biology to bioluminescent assays that help us monitor food safety and water quality, we work side-by-side with our partners in academic, industrial and government institutions to bring the best minds to bear on the toughest questions. Since 1978, we have done this all with a steadfast commitment to sustainable business models that protect our environment, inspire and develop our employees as individuals, support the wellbeing and growth of our communities, and strengthen our relationships with our customers. With 16 branches around the world, Promega products are used by a global community of life scientists who are asking fundamental questions about biological processes as well as by scientists who are applying scientific knowledge to diagnose and treat diseases, discover new therapeutics, and use genetics and DNA testing for human identification.
About the Role

OUR TEAM: Our group builds bioluminescent and fluorescent tools that let researchers see what happens inside living cells and in biochemical systems. As an intern, you will contribute to projects that may include:

-Bioluminescent reporter and complementation technologies: NanoLuc luciferase-based systems such as NanoBiT and HiBiT for measuring protein abundance, protein-protein interactions, and protein degradation.

-Immunoassay-based signaling detection: homogeneous, no-wash bioluminescent formats for measuring intracellular proteins and post-translational modifications such as phosphorylation.

-Fluorescence-based methods: fluorescent labeling (for example HaloTag ligands), fluorescence imaging, and plate-reader fluorescence, used alongside luminescence for orthogonal validation.

-Enzyme activity assays: biochemical and cell-based detection of kinases and other signaling enzymes.

-Drug discovery applications: assay miniaturization, plate-based and high-throughput screening formats, and compound profiling.

YOUR ROLE:

-Perform cell culture, transfections, and cell-based assays in multi-well formats.
-Run biochemical assays, including reagent preparation, buffer optimization, and titrations.

-Operate luminometers, fluorescence plate readers, and imaging instruments.

-Collect, organize, and analyze data (dose-response curves, signal-to-background, Z’ factor, assay window.)

-Document experiments clearly in an electronic lab notebook.

-Follow protocols with direction, and learn to troubleshoot and ask the right questions when results are unexpected.

-Present results and contribute ideas at group meetings.

CORE DUTIES:

1. Apply Promega proprietary technologies to develop intracellular target detection and signaling assays.

2. Become competent in the application of one or more techniques.

3. Work with cultured cells to develop detection assays.

4. Understand role in team environment.

5. Interact effectively with co-workers and team members.

10. Understands and complies with ethical, legal and regulatory requirements applicable to our business. (This should be the last numbered statement under the Core Duties)

KEY QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Must be currently enrolled in a degree program in the life sciences (biology, chemistry, etc.).

2. Experience with cell culture is desirable.

3. Demonstrated proficiency in digital tools and technology, including Microsoft applications and mobile platforms, with the ability to adapt and leverage emerging technologies, such as artificial intelligence, to improve efficiency, automation, and collaboration. (This should be the last numbered statement under the Key Qualifications)

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

1. Ability to work at lab bench or fume hood for extended period of time.

2. Ability to wear protection gear (gloves, lab coat, safety glasses, etc.).
