About The Company
Ursa Major delivers mission-ready aerospace and defense systems across hypersonics, solid rocket motors, and space-based defense, leveraging additive manufacturing and modular architectures to produce scalable all up rounds, engines and SRMs faster than legacy providers. From throttleable, storable hypersonics to tactically responsive satellite propulsion and extended-range solid rocket motors, Ursa Major is powering the joint force with flexible, American-made systems for any mission, in any domain.
About the Role

The future of aerospace and defense starts here.

Ursa Major was founded to revolutionize how America and its allies access and apply high-performance propulsion, from hypersonics to solid rocket motors, satellite maneuvering and launch. We design and deliver propulsion and defense systems that solve the most urgent and critical national security demands.

Ursa is currently seeking a driven Systems Engineering Intern to join our small, fast-paced, solid rocket motor team. As member of the team, you will gain experience in many aspects of systems engineering, including design, development, manufacturing and testing of solid rocket motors. This internship will have a strong focus on requirement development, verification planning, risk analysis, and process building.

In this role, you will engage in both collaborative projects and independent tasks, contributing to our dynamic work environment. You will have the opportunity to work closely with team members across different disciplines, allowing you to gain diverse perspectives and learn from experienced professionals. We value initiative and responsibility; you will have the chance to influence technical decisions and make a real impact.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and improve system engineering processes and tools.
  • Provide flexible support for team projects as need emerges.

Required Qualifications

  • Pursing a background in systems engineering, mechanical, electrical, or aerospace engineering.
  • Familiarity with systems engineering principles - design reviews, system requirements, verification and validation, and failure and risk assessments.
  • Strong communication skills with ability to convey technical information in team settings.
  • Confidence in developing processes and ability to work effectively in situations where procedures may not be established.
  • Demonstrated commitment to valuing diversity in all its forms as well as contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment
  • Demonstrates initiative and adopts a diligent approach to learning.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with solid rocket motor systems.
  • Proficiency in Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE).
  • Proficiency in requirements management tools such as DOORS, or Jama.

Colorado law requires us to tell you the base compensation range of this role, which is $30.00/hour, determined by your education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities. What we can’t quantify for you are the exciting challenges, supportive team, and amazing culture we enjoy.
