The Position

Job title: Data Expert - Compliance by Design team, Data Capability, DDC,

Computational Sciences Center of Excellence

Location(s): Welwyn office based

Department Summary

Advances in AI, data, and computational sciences are transforming drug discovery and development. Roche’s Research and Early Development organisations at Genentech (gRED) and Pharma (pRED) have demonstrated how these technologies accelerate R&D, leveraging data and novel computational models to drive impact. Seamless data sharing and access to models across gRED and pRED are essential to maximising these opportunities. The new computational sciences Center of Excellence (CoE) is a strategic, unified group whose goal is to harness this transformative power of data and Artificial Intelligence (AI) to assist our scientists in both pRED and gRED to deliver more innovative and transformative medicines for patients worldwide.

Within the CoE organisation, the Data and Digital Catalyst organisation drives the modernisation of our computational and data ecosystems and integration of digital technologies across Research and Early Development to enable our stakeholders, power data-driven science and accelerate decision-making.

The Opportunity

We are seeking a Data Expert to work with a network of data policy experts, data managers, and scientific leaders to develop informational materials and interactive toolings (e.g., chatbots) for scientists within Roche regarding data usage policies and processes. They will communicate extensively with these groups to map existing resources, identify gaps, and create compelling, user-friendly solutions that make it easier for scientists to use data responsibly and effectively. This role will be instrumental in influencing how data is accessed and used, reducing friction for scientists in applying data policies in their day-to-day work, strengthening compliance whilst accelerating data-intensive workflows across R&D.

  • Analyze data-policy questions from scientists and data managers to identify trends and determine where new guidance, tools, or explanations are needed.
  • Develop clear informational materials and scientist-friendly resources that translate global data policies (e.g., data usage, data sharing requirements, AI/ML governance) into practical guidance.
  • Communication with Roche global data policy experts (legal and compliance teams) to seek advice when advisory materials are unclear.
  • Communication with team members  to discuss proposals and review materials using different electronic communication methods (global team).
  • Communication with data providers and scientists to discuss materials and understand and answer their queries.
  • Design and refine informational materials and interactive toolings (e.g., chatbots) that will help scientists quickly find and understand data handling requirements, helping to streamline compliance and enabling faster research.

Program Highlights:
