About The Company
Revolutionizing Lightweight Component Production
(Formerly BladeX Technologies)
About the Role
Company Overview
Hybron, Inc. is an advanced manufacturing startup that has developed a new method for producing fiber-reinforced polymer composites. Our process addresses the limitations of traditional composites manufacturing, enabling complex, lightweight components to be produced with greater strength and at 10 to 100 times the speed. We have successfully tested our first composite compressor blades in a fighter jet engine and are expanding into applications across aerospace, defense, energy, and other commercial markets.
Our technology can improve the performance and affordability of critical hardware while strengthening domestic manufacturing. Join us as we turn new manufacturing capabilities into products and partnerships that serve the United States and its allies.
About the Role
We are seeking an MBA student for a 2027 Business Development Internship at our Hawthorne facility. You will work directly with Hybron's business development team, co-founders, and engineering team to identify opportunities, develop customer relationships, and support strategic growth in U.S. and international markets.
You will help move opportunities from initial research and outreach through customer evaluation, proposals, and partnership development. The role combines market strategy, government opportunity research, commercial analysis, and hands-on execution. You will also own a defined growth project and present your findings and recommended next steps to leadership.
What We Are Looking For
- Currently enrolled in a Master of Business Administration program, with an interest in business development, strategy, entrepreneurship, or technology commercialization.
- Strong research and analytical skills, including the ability to assess markets, compare opportunities, and build clear business cases.
- Excellent writing, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate professionally with customers, partners, and government stakeholders.
- Proficiency with Excel, PowerPoint, and Word; comfort maintaining accurate customer and opportunity records.
- Initiative, sound judgment, attention to detail, and consistent follow-through across multiple projects and deadlines.
- Curiosity about technical products and manufacturing, and the ability to translate engineering information into business value. An engineering degree is not required.
- U.S. Person status pursuant to EAR and ITAR definitions.
Nice to Have
- Prior experience in business development, consulting, finance, operations, engineering, military service, government, or a startup is preferred. Familiarity with aerospace, defense, advanced manufacturing, or government contracting is a plus.
- Experience working in a technical field, such as engineering, material science, or manufacturing.
- Experience with carbon fiber composites.
- Experience working in the aerospace or defense industry.
Responsibilities
- Research target customers, competitors, and markets across aerospace, defense, unmanned systems, propulsion, energy, automotive, and other applications for Hybron composites. Recommend where Hybron should focus its efforts.
- Qualify opportunities by identifying customer needs, decision-makers, potential quantities, funding, timelines, and fit with Hybron's manufacturing capabilities.
- Support customer outreach and meetings by preparing company profiles, briefing materials, tailored emails, agendas, and follow-ups with clear next steps.
- Maintain the business development pipeline, including contact information, correspondence history, opportunity stage, potential value, deadlines, owners, and outstanding actions.
- Coordinate nondisclosure agreements and customer information requests. Work with engineering to organize approved technical inputs, part evaluations, quote requests, and development schedules.
- Identify government funding and contracting opportunities through SAM.gov, agency announcements, innovation programs, and industry consortia. Summarize eligibility, evaluation criteria, deadlines, and strategic fit.
- Help prepare white papers, proposals, pitch decks, capability statements, and customer presentations. Coordinate technical, commercial, and schedule inputs for timely submissions.
- Build pricing comparisons, market-sizing analyses, revenue scenarios, and business cases with input from engineering and operations to support pursuit and investment decisions.
- Research potential partners, suppliers, prime contractors, and international customers. Support teaming, co-development, and commercialization discussions and track agreement milestones.
- Support government relations by researching agency priorities, program offices, budgets, and industrial-base initiatives, and preparing briefings and action summaries for leadership.
- Help plan conferences, customer visits, and industry engagements, including target meetings, presentation materials, schedules, and post-event follow-up.
- Coordinate customer requirements and commitments with engineering and operations as opportunities move toward testing, qualification, and production. Follow company processes for confidential and export-controlled information.
Growth Opportunities
- Direct mentorship from Hybron's business development team, CEO and co-founder, and CTO and co-founder, with exposure to the engineering team, customers, and strategic partners.
- Practical experience in government contracting, international business, commercial negotiations, and bringing advanced manufacturing technology to market.
- Ownership of a focused project, such as a market-entry recommendation, prioritized customer pipeline, or government opportunity pursuit plan, with a final presentation to leadership.
