About the Role

Company Description

Grimco is a wholesale sign supply distributor with about 45 locations across North America and a UK subsidiary, Multipanel UK. Our nine-person IT Infrastructure team supports roughly 1,000 endpoints and 200 servers, plus the networks that connect every branch.

You will work alongside experienced engineers on Microsoft 365, Windows, Intune, Active Directory and Meraki networking. Interns get real tickets, real users and a mentor, not busywork.

Job Description

Under the guidance of senior team members, you will:

• Respond to help desk tickets by phone, email, chat and in person, and document each step in the ticketing system.

• Troubleshoot common Windows, Microsoft 365 (Outlook, Teams, OneDrive, SharePoint) and printer issues for users at headquarters and remote branches.

• Prepare, image and deploy laptops and desktops using Windows Autopilot and Intune, and handle returns and retirements.

• Complete basic account tasks such as password resets, MFA re-registration and group membership changes, following approved procedures.

• Set up and support peripherals, mobile devices, conference room equipment and VoIP phones.

• Maintain accurate hardware and software inventory records.

• Help with network and cabling tasks such as patching, labeling and checking Meraki access points and switches.

• Write or update knowledge base articles and how-to guides for common requests.

• Escalate issues you can't resolve to the right engineer with clear notes.

• Complete a small project during the internship (for example, an inventory audit, a refreshed onboarding checklist or a self-service guide) and present it to the team at the end.

Qualifications

By the end of the internship you will have hands-on experience with:

• Enterprise device management with Microsoft Intune and Windows Autopilot

• Microsoft 365 and Entra ID (Azure AD) administration basics

• Active Directory user and group management

• Cloud-managed networking with Cisco Meraki

• ITIL-style ticket handling, documentation and escalation

• Security practices in a PCI DSS and GDPR environment, including MFA and least-privilege access

• Professional communication with non-technical users across many locations

Required qualifications

• Currently enrolled in, or recently graduated from, a degree or certificate program in Information Technology, Computer Science, Cybersecurity or a related field

• Working knowledge of Windows 10/11 and Microsoft Office or Microsoft 365

• Basic understanding of networking concepts (IP addressing, DNS, DHCP, Wi-Fi)

• Strong customer service skills and the patience to explain technical issues in plain language

• Clear written communication for ticket notes and documentation

• Ability to handle confidential information responsibly

• Reliable transportation and availability for the full internship period

Preferred qualifications

• CompTIA A+, Network+ or Security+, or Microsoft Fundamentals certifications (MS-900, MD-102 coursework), earned or in progress

• Prior help desk, campus IT or retail tech support experience

• Exposure to Active Directory, Intune or another device management tool

• Familiarity with a ticketing system such as Jira Service Management

• Interest in a career in systems administration, networking or cybersecurity
