Computer Science Research Assistant Summer 2026

Position Overview

Students will be cleaning, organizing, analyzing, and creating dashboards for an on-campus sports team.

Major Areas of Responsibility

• Cleaning data using either the R or Python programming language and storing the data in an appropriate file type in an organized directory.

• Analyzing the data to produce different metrics. These may include a readiness score or information on improving a move.

• Creating dashboards of the provided data for each user, that includes the scores and other data relating to the user.

Working Conditions

• This is partially in-person and partially remote. Student is expected to work from their laptop.

• Sitting or standing for a long length of time. 

• Office Setting: dust, artificial light, staring at a computer screen, etc.

Required Qualifications

Must have taken COSC 1210, COSC 1220, COSC 3310. COSC 2310 and MATH 2410 are preferred.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.

• Ability to maintain regular and punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
