About the Role

Step straight into leadership and put your skills to the test! Grand Traverse Resort and Spa is thrilled to announce the launch of our brand-new Rooms Division Manager-in-Training Program—a year-long post-graduate training designed to fast-track ambitious college graduates into hospitality management.

If you are passionate about guest experiences, eager to learn resort operations from the ground up, and ready to step directly into a supervisory role, this is the opportunity you have been waiting for!

December 2026 + May 2027 college graduates are encouraged to apply.

The Opportunity: Rooms Division Manager-In-Training

  • Location: Grand Traverse Resort and Spa (Acme, MI)
  • Duration: 1 Year (Full-Time, Year-Round)
  • The Goal: A seamless transition into a Full-Time Supervisor or Manager role upon successful completion of the program.

Phase 1: Deep-Dive Departmental Rotations (Months 1–9)

This isn’t your average internship. You will actively rotate through every core department of our thriving Rooms & Lodging division, mastering the logistics, strategy, and teamwork that keep a world-class resort running:

  • Front Desk: Master the art of the first impression, guest relations, and front-of-house operations.
  • Reservations: Learn the revenue engines, booking systems, and guest planning strategies.
  • Guest Services: Deliver the exceptional, high-touch service that defines our resort culture.
  • Housekeeping: Understand the operational backbone of resort cleanliness, property standards, and team management.
  • Laundry: Dive into high-volume inventory management and the essential logistics of a massive resort operation.

Phase 2: The Leadership Launchpad (Months 10–12)

Your final three months are where your career truly accelerates. Instead of shadowing, you will step up as a Floating Supervisor, playing a critical strategic role in the resort's daily success:

  • Finetune Managerial Skills: Gain real-world, hands-on experience managing teams, resolving complex guest situations, and leading shifts.
  • Play to Your Strengths: Deploy your unique skills and leadership style where they can make the biggest impact.
  • Dynamic Leadership: Float across the Rooms Division to provide a vital supervisory presence exactly where the resort needs you most.

What We Are Looking For

  • Education: Recent college graduates with a degree in Hospitality Management, Business, or a related field.
  • Passion: A genuine love for the hospitality industry and a drive to lead others.
  • Culture Fit: A positive, high-energy attitude, excellent communication skills, and a strong work ethic.
  • Ambition: Someone looking for a long-term career home, not just a temporary job.

Why Join Grand Traverse Resort and Spa?

  • Fast-Tracked Career Growth: We built this program with a clear destination in mind. If your performance and culture fit align, our ultimate goal is to roll you directly into a permanent Full-Time career in a supervisor or manager capacity.
  • World-Class Experience: Gain resume-defining experience at a historic, full-service resort spanning 900 beautiful acres.
  • Unbeatable Perks: Enjoy resort discounts, beautiful Northern Michigan surroundings, and a supportive team culture that celebrates your success.
