Welcome to HeartShare! We are happy to have you as part of our team. Our goal is to provide you with a productive semester. Down below we have listed your clinical fieldwork requirements to maximize your learning experience. Please feel free to ask any questions at any time!
Hours:
Monday through Friday 8-3:30. You are welcome to come early or stay late in order to complete paperwork and prepare materials. We sometimes have team meetings from 2:45-3:30. If one of your students’ is being discussed we will let you know in advance so you can participate in the meeting.
If you are sick and cannot attend, please let us know as soon as possible by calling or via email.
We are typically servicing children or in the classrooms between 8:30- 2:30. You can ask specific questions related to session plans, prepare materials, and complete paperwork (i.e., daily session notes/evaluations) any time before or after these hours.
Speech Language pathology Treatment Sessions:
You are welcome to utilize any speech language pathology treatment plan/exercises/activities for your caseload on a daily basis. Please remember to keep in mind: goals targeted, how you will measure their accuracy or progress towards the goal, and the equipment you will need. You are welcome to use our equipment or bring/make your own. Be creative and have fun!
You will be required to write up a formal lesson plan for one child from each caseload. The lesson plan should include: goal(s) targeted, procedure, and materials utilized.
Speech Language pathology Daily Progress Notes:
All of your speech language pathology session notes must be entered in the EasyTrac online system. We ask that you write your session notes in Microsoft Word and email them to us by the end of each week so we can enter them in EasyTrac in a timely manner.
You are free to utilize whatever data recording system. However, we recommend a notebook system where you can keep track of the student, time & date seen, goal targeted, & progress towards goal using percentages/accuracy level. For some children you have to rely on level and type of prompting to achieve goals.
Speech Language pathology Quarterly/Annual Reports
You will be responsible to write/update speech language pathology quarterly reports for all of the children you are actively treating during the length of your clinical rotation.
Speech language pathology Annual reports are not always due during the time in which a clinical fieldwork takes place, so in order to still have the opportunity to experience writing one, you may be asked to do a mock annual report for therapist review. However, as with quarterly reports, should one be due while you are actively treating a student, you will be responsible for writing/updating it.
Qualifications:
Enrolled and Recommended by a College or University for Speech Internship
